Frequently Asked Questions
-
Integrative counselling combines different evidence-based therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs, rather than following a single method. At Deep Kaur Therapy, I draw from Person-Centred Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and Jungian-informed approaches, alongside mind-body awareness where appropriate. This allows therapy to be tailored to your unique experiences, goals, and pace.
-
Counselling can support many aspects of mental and emotional well-being. I work with adults experiencing:
Anxiety and excessive worry
Stress and burnout
Grief and bereavement
Trauma and difficult life experiences
Relationship and family difficulties
Low self-esteem
Emotional overwhelm
Life transitions
Identity and cultural issues
Personal growth and self-understanding
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. Many people come simply because they want to understand themselves more deeply or improve their emotional well-being.
-
Yes. I provide secure online counselling across the UK and globally, allowing you to access therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own home. All you need is a quiet space and a reliable internet connection.
-
I work with adults aged 18 and over from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. I welcome clients from all cultures, faiths, genders and identities, offering a respectful, inclusive and non-judgemental therapeutic space.
-
Culture, identity, family values, faith and lived experiences can all influence our mental health and how we experience the world. As a culturally sensitive therapist, I recognise the importance of understanding these experiences without making assumptions. Therapy is always adapted to you as an individual and your unique story.
-
No. My practice is inclusive and open to everyone, regardless of religious or spiritual beliefs.
While my work is informed by Eastern psychology and spiritual wisdom, therapy is always centred around your values, beliefs and goals. If you prefer a purely psychological approach, that is completely respected.
-
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss your goals, answer any questions you may have, and consider how we might work together. There is no expectation to share everything straight away—we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
-
Yes. I offer a free 20-minute consultation by phone or online. This allows you to ask questions, briefly discuss what brings you to therapy, and decide whether working together feels like the right fit.
-
How long is each counselling session?
-
Many clients begin with weekly sessions to establish continuity and build the therapeutic relationship. As therapy progresses, some people choose to move to fortnightly or less frequent sessions depending on their needs.
-
Yes. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of counselling.
There are rare circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken, such as where there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or another person, safeguarding concerns, or a legal requirement to disclose information. If possible, this would always be discussed with you first.
-
Metaphysical Anatomy Technique (MAT) with Reprocessing Eye Movement (REE) is a complementary therapeutic approach that explores the connection between emotional experiences and the body. It may include guided emotional processing, nervous system regulation and body awareness techniques.
This service is offered separately from counselling and will be discussed fully before deciding whether it is suitable for your needs.
-
Where appropriate, I may gently introduce grounding techniques, breathwork, nervous system regulation or mindfulness practices to support emotional regulation and self-awareness. These approaches are always optional and offered collaboratively with your consent.

Many people feel uncertain before starting therapy, and that's completely understandable. You don't need to have everything figured out before reaching out. A free consultation offers a gentle opportunity to ask questions, explore your options, and decide whether my approach feels right for you.
